Business blogs are a struggle. Let’s be honest, you want to provide useful information, but you don’t want to give away so much that the reader doesn’t need to become a client. At the same time, nobody wants to read a two page commercial for your business, so you have to give enough to keep them around. It’s a tightrope.
Sometimes finding an idea that is relevant to what you do but also provides the reader with something useful both inside and outside of work is a good approach. Take holiday shopping:
It’s that time of year. As the air gets cooler and the leaves begin to turn, it’s time to begin thinking about the holiday season. There is a good chance you are already thinking about holiday shopping. Gift shopping can be stressful and costly, but it doesn’t have to be. A solution to this end of year anxiety can be found online on social media!
At Chemistry, we do a great deal of social media work, and also have learned that those “news you can use” type of posts also attract eyeballs. Many holiday retailers, and even social media aggregators, have become masters at giving the reader something that will make their life easier (or at least more affordable) when they are shopping for the holidays!
Now, we might be inclined to get to this point and continue telling you about our extensive knowledge of the social media marketing landscape and our previous successful marketing campaigns. But really, what’s in that for you? Why would you want to continue reading?
Instead, look to provide information that displays expertise, in this case our social media expertise, but will actually help readers shop for less this holiday season. An effective example might look something like this:
Many may initially overlook social media platforms when making a holiday shopping plan. However, these platforms offer the opportunity to find discounts and deals on the product of your choice with the click of a button. The challenge is to learn how to effectively harness this power. Fortunately, you’ve found the experienced social media pro’s at Chemistry PR & Multimedia. So without further ado…
Here’s Where to Find the Best Holiday Deals on Social Media:
Facebook Groups
One place to find great deals this holiday season is on Facebook, more specifically in Facebook Groups. There are groups dedicated to any area that you can imagine, from real estate to fishing to knitting. In these groups, thousands of users join an online community to share relevant information about their passion. However, groups aren’t just a great way to build community with people who share your interests. It’s also a great place to search for holiday discounts!
Group members will use their Facebook group to alert others of deals on products in their area of interest.
If you want to get more direct, there are numerous Facebook groups dedicated to deals. In these groups, members post links to discounts that they find. Excellent examples of this are groups dedicated to clothing and holiday deals.
Twitter/X
On X (or Twitter for those of us who have trouble walking away from a great brand name) you can find feeds that continuously send you deals. A personal favorite is @BlackFriday, for whom the name is pretty self-explanatory. There are deals all year round, but here as we begin November, it really starts to hop!
Instagram is another good place to spot a deal. Sometimes the ads are irritating, but take a moment and think about the lists of your loved ones. You may encounter a bargain.
Iou can search for accounts or influencers that post content related to an item you’re looking for. Oftentimes these accounts will post paid promotions or list promo codes in their account bio that will give users an opportunity to access discounts. Examples of this kind of account include fashion influencers Kathleen Post and Najm Loyd.
In addition, keep an eye on Instagram stories! Brand accounts and influencers can post flash discounts or additional promo codes, so you don’t want to miss out!
Also, turn on post notifications for accounts by clicking the bell icon at the top of a profile page! That way you’ll be immediately notified of any new deals that are posted!
TikTok
Tiktok provides yet another great outlet for finding deals this holiday season. Similarly to Instagram, accounts and influencers will post promo codes and discounts on their profiles and in their bio’s.
One way to specify your search and find the item you are looking for is to use keywords in your search such as “holiday sale” or “deals” that will optimize your results. Say you wanted to look into shoe deals for instance. Searching “shoe deals” on Tiktok Another great strategy is to search using hashtags, such as #holidaydeal. Users will often utilize a hashtag similar to this when posting a discount. This allows you to narrow your search.
So, hopefully this was more fun than the average business blog. If the whole thing was about us at Chemistry telling you how well we understand the social media marketing landscape, would you really want to take the time to read it? Maybe not. But we do hope you’ll take our ideas (and a few discounts), and remember us next time you are looking for some PR, social media, or video production help.
