George Sells

Director of Client Services & Content

George Sells is the Director of Client Services and Content for Chemistry PR and Multimedia. George’s broad scope of work in the communications, public relations, and media fields make him a great fit for our full-service agency.

George spent three years as Director of Communications and Marketing for a large, urban school district (Saint Louis Public Schools) where he oversaw all aspects of internal and external communications for 62 schools. His work here included communications strategy and planning, oversight of all content creation, media relations, and crisis communication. While there, George handled an annual advertising budget of more than half a million dollars, and led the development of an “agency style” department that developed and created all marketing content for the District. His crisis communication experience includes the 2022 mass shooting at one of the District’s high schools. George has presented to national communications groups on this topic. In addition, he led the informational campaign for a District bond issue that passed with 87% of the vote.

George has also owned his own company, doing client facing consulting, media relations, and video production work. He led the media relations work for the largest U.S. Census campaign in the state of Missouri (run by the Missouri Foundation for Health) in 2019-2020. George spearheaded all video production and video messaging for the Kirkwood Public Schools over a four-year period. He also conducted seminars on 360-video production for the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans communications teams.

If it is innovation you are looking for, George led the development of a style and process for creating news content in 360-video during his time with a Los Angeles based virtual reality firm. He built a national team of journalists, then trained and led them in the creation of this material. He was awarded one of the first Emmy Awards in the VR/360 space for this unique and new approach to storytelling.

George spent the early years of his career as a television journalist, working in the St. Louis, New York City, Louisville, and Baton Rouge markets. He received nine other Emmy nominations as well as numerous awards from the Associated Press and other organization. His list of stories covered includes some of the most notable events in American history during the late 20th and early 21st century. They include:

  • Civil unrest in Ferguson, MO
  • 9/11 attacks in New York City
  • Funeral for Space Shuttle Columbia Astronauts
  • Four major Gulf Coast hurricanes
  • Interviews with three former U.S. Presidents and coverage of three more
  • 3 World Series
  • 9 Kentucky Derbies

He also went into a 34-degree lake in a helicopter and was held at gunpoint by the Ku Klux Klan, but those are stories for another day. George lives in St. Louis. He is married with two children and a dog who is occasionally well behaved.
