Storytelling at a New Level
Providing B-Roll to the media is what catapulted Chemistry PR and Multimedia into video production in 2014. We realized media outlets didn’t have the resources to send reporters and videographers out to cover high-profile events that were 45 minutes to 1 hour away from the media market. However, if our video team conducted the interviews and shot b-roll, 95% of the media markets would use our video in creating a news segment.
Furthermore, in some of our highest profile events with the Gary Sinise Foundation and/or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, we realized that if our video team provided higher quality b-roll with slider rail shots, drone shots and better-quality shots that their own videographer could get while shooting the story, they’d use our footage 100% of the time.
To illustrate the magnitude of impact on PR opportunities, our team can site many examples of how we provided B-Roll to media outlets to generate local and national story coverage. However, as a case study, let’s use Thanksgiving, 2019 as our shining example why this works.
The client was the Gary Sinise Foundation who took 29 Gold Star Families to New York for the Macy’s Day Parade and dinner above Times Square at the Marriott Marquis.
The goal was to get media coverage for the day in understanding that media already had hundreds of other stories to cover for the Macy’s Day Parade. We took our own film crew to capture footage of the Gold Star Families enjoying a day filled with lots of hope, love, and excitement.
Our team pitched media for “Thanksgiving Dinner above Times Square with Gold Star Families hosted by the Gary Sinise Foundation.” We provided B-Roll from the days’ activities. And, as a result, most of the heart of the story was from the B-Roll our team provided. Here is one of the stories from CBS 2:
